Housing for students

Your Home Away from Home – We’ll Help You Find It.

Finding the right accommodation is one of the most important decisions you will make as an international student. Where you live will shape your daily life, your comfort, your safety, and even your academic success. It’s where you’ll study, sleep, make friends, and create memories.

We understand that this decision can feel overwhelming—especially when you are thousands of kilometres away and unfamiliar with the local market. But at European Studies and Language Services (ESLS) , we believe that finding a place to live should never hold you back from pursuing your dream of studying abroad.

That is why we are here to guide you every step of the way.

What Are Your Options?

International students typically choose between two main types of accommodation:

🏢 Private Accommodation (Most Popular)

The majority of international students opt for private accommodation—either renting a studio, a one-bedroom apartment, or sharing a flat with other students. This option offers more independence, privacy, and flexibility.

  • Monthly cost (including communal charges): €450 – €700 per month

  • Factors affecting price:

    • Location (city centre vs. suburbs)

    • Size of the property (studio, one-bedroom, shared flat)

    • Whether you live alone or with roommates

    • Furnished or unfurnished

    • Proximity to public transport and university

Private accommodation gives you the freedom to choose your own space, your own housemates, and your own lifestyle. With our help, you can find a place that fits both your budget and your preferences.

🏛️ University Halls of Residence (Dormitories)

Student dormitories are often the most affordable option and offer the chance to live surrounded by fellow students.

  • Monthly cost (including communal charges): Approximately €250 per month

  • Advantages:

    • Low cost

    • Close to campus

    • Easy to meet other students

  • Disadvantages:

    • Very limited availability – places are highly competitive

    • Must apply months in advance

    • Less privacy and independence

    • Shared facilities (kitchens, bathrooms, common areas)

While dormitories are cheaper, they are notoriously difficult to secure. Many students apply early and still miss out due to high demand. That is why most international students choose private accommodation—it is more readily available and offers greater comfort and freedom.

⚠️ Important Warning – Beware of Scams

Unfortunately, in cities with high demand for student housing, dishonest individuals and fake listing agents sometimes try to take advantage of unsuspecting students.

Be extremely cautious of:

  • Offers that seem too good to be true (luxury apartments at very low prices)

  • Landlords who ask for prepayment before you have seen the property

  • Listings with real photos and real addresses but fake contact details

  • Requests for payment via unsecured methods (Western Union, cryptocurrency, etc.)

Our golden rule: Never pay anything before verifying the property and the landlord. With ESLS, you work only with trusted, vetted estate agents who have a proven track record of serving international students safely and fairly.
